If you’re wondering, Barn & Jones candles are made in small batches. That means, we don’t overstock our products for a long period of time to ensure optimum scent throw on our candles.
So how long can you store them?
Typically, your soy candles can last up to 1 year from production date. However, we do recommend burning them within 6-8 months.
Soy candles storing methods:
Soy candles are very temperature sensitive. Ideally, you want to keep them in a cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight. Find a place in your home that doesn’t have huge temperature changes that might cause your soy candles to lose it’s properties.
What happens to soy candles after 1 year of storing:
Soy candles may lose some of it’s properties after 1 year. You might realise that your soy candles don’t smell as good as when you first bought it. Furthermore, it might not produce a great scent throw as it should have.
Frosting on candles:
Frosting doesn’t mean that your soy candles have gone bad. As mentioned earlier, soy candles are very sensitive to temperature. Temperature changes might cause your candle surface to melt and re-solidify causing an occurrence we call frosting.
This is very common in natural vegetable waxes. So don’t worry if you see this happen on of your candles, as these are traits of a natural handpoured soy candle. Once you burn them, the frosting should disappear after it re-solidifies back into candle state.
TL;DR : Store your candles in a cool & dry place, away from sunlight. Try your best to finish them within 6 months of purchase. Your candles might have some frosting but this is just common for soy candles.
